Pope County Human Services and Grant County Social Services are pleased to announce the future formation of Western Prairie Human Services, a joint entity that will serve the people of our two counties.

After working together with a temporary joint powers board to explore the feasibility of joining our human services agencies, both the Grant County and Pope County Boards have made the decision to enter into a permanent joint powers agreement together. On Jan. 1, 2022, entities previously known as Grant County Social Services and Pope County Human Services have joined together to be one agency named Western Prairie Human Services.
Offices held in Glenwood and Elbow Lake with business hours of 8am-4pm effective January 1, 2022

We want the citizens of both counties to know that both offices will remain fully staffed and open, and the County Commissioners of both counties will be members of the Western Prairie Human Services board, the governing body in charge of making decisions for the new entity.

We believe this joint venture as one agency will increase service options and program availability without exponentially increasing costs, increase staffing capacity, and slow the growth in the overall agency footprint by sharing expertise
and administration.

Western Prairie Human Services follows the path of other county partnerships in this process, taking from
their successes that we can also provide person-centered care to the communities we serve while also providing an environment of growth for our staff. As we work toward a full merger as one agency in 2022, we continue to critically assess things like access and services levels, and look toward improvements we believe we can achieve together.

Please join us in our excitement to serve our community to the best of our ability.
